CHARLTON- Adele J. (Duquette) Rice, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Harrington Hospital.
She was the wife of the late James J. Rice, Sr., who passed away in December of 2021.
She was born in Worcester on November 29, 1957, a daughter of the late Leonce L. and Gabrielle T. (Chartier) Duquette. She was raised in Worcester and graduated from Holy Name High School and Anna Maria College. Adele later earned her master’s degree in foreign language from Southern Connecticut University.
“Addy” began her teaching career working in Connecticut before taking a position teaching foreign language at St. Peter Marian, where she was employed until retirement. A woman of deep Catholic faith and devotion, Adele enjoyed singing in the church choir and attending Mass. She enjoyed nature and animals, especially horses, and enjoyed walking, reading, and swimming at Cedar Pond.
She leaves behind many that will miss her dearly including her siblings, Melanie Duquette of Worcester, Daniel Duquette and his wife, Connie, of California, Thomas Duquette of Fitchburg, Ruth Duquette of Worcester, Justine Abdow and her husband, Alex, and their son, David, of Worcester and Barbara Duquette Kelleher and her daughter, Alyssa Kelleher; many friends and extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Addy’s life with visiting hours on Thursday, December 8th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, December 9th at St. Joseph Church, 10 H Putnam Ext., Charlton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dudley.
