Aiko (Tobaru) Smith, 85, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021, at Dodge Park Rest Home.
Her beloved husband of 58 years, W. Denholm Smith, passed away on September 22, 2021.
Aiko was born in Okinawa, Japan a daughter of Seiichi and Kiyo Tobaru. She and Denholm loved to travel especially to Hawaii and Japan. Aiko enjoyed spending time with family, especially with her husband, was fond of shopping and had a great sense of humor. She was an avid reader of Japanese mystery novels. Aiko was a lover of animals and adored her dogs.
She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Diane Hendricken, her nephew, Yancy Garnett, his partner, Lisa and his children, Jada and Celia, her niece, Kelley Hendricken, and her daughter, Jolie Etwaroo, her siblings, Misako Kawakami and Masahida Tobaru and several nieces and extended family in Japan as well as many friends.
A Private Graveside will be held in Mount Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's on the Heights Church, 340 Burncoat St., Worcester, 01606. Arrangements are in the care of Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston.
