Alan Frederick Tomer (1944-2023)

 
Alan F. Tomer, 79, of Spencer, MA (Formerly of Stow, MA), died on October 7, 2023, from
complications of illness and Alzheimer's disease. Alan was born in New Jersey to Frederick and
Idelle Tomer. Alan grew up in New Jersey and then moved to Massachusetts as an adult. He
studied electrical engineering and worked most of his career as an engineer at UMass Memorial
Medical Center in the Radiation Oncology Dept. He was also an adjunct professor at Harvard
Medical School.

Alan was married to Patricia Tomer for over 50 years before her passing in 2020. Together they had
4 children; Samantha, Alden, Mackensey, and Alicia. Alan enjoyed attending his children’s soccer
games and taking his children to the local beach to swim. He loved hunting and fishing with his
friends and sharing his vast knowledge with others. Alan was overjoyed when his grandchildren;
Anthony, Avery, Mercedes, Ashton, Aiden, and Damian arrived and delighted in taking them on
walks in the woods, camping, helping with Boy Scouts, and taking them for ice cream.

Alan is survived by his children, Samantha (Steven Valley) Tomer, Alden (Jaime) Tomer, Mackensey
Bailey, Alicia (Anthoy) Penta, grandchildren, his brother Arthur (Helen) Tomer of Maine, his sister
Susan Tomer, of Maine, his aunt Joan, of New Jersey, his sister in law, Sharon Waddick, of Canada,
his brother in law, Jim Kondratick, of Pennsylvania, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be scheduled in the future. Remembrances can be donated in Alan’s name
to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choosing.
