Alan M. Wentworth

PAXTON-Alan M. Wentworth, 78, lifelong resident of Paxton, died Monday, January 26 in the Oakdale Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston. He leaves his wife of 36 years Sandra J. (King) Wentworth; two sons, Daniel Alan Wentworth and his wife Camille of Chester, NH and William K. Wentworth of Austin, TX; two grandsons, Brandon M. Wentworth of Mesa, AZ and Jedidiah Langevin of Charlton City; granddaughter, Ashley D. Wentworth of Chester, NH; sister, Louise Slowe of Swansea, MA and two nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline (Selfridge) Wentworth in 1971 and a daughter Judith F. Langevin in 2005. He was born in Paxton, son of Roy M. and Dorothy M. (Ladd) Wentworth and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was an Army Corporal and Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Wentworth worked for National Cash Register, Company for 22 years. He was a lifetime member and trustee of the First Congregational Church of Paxton where he was also a member of the pastoral selection committee and the church building committee, sang with the choir and held the position of the Town Clock Keeper for many years. Alan was a member of Rufus Putnam Lodge AF & AM for 50 years. He was also Past Patron of Eastern Star and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He sang with the Scottish Rite Chorus.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 1 in the First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church St., Paxton. Burial in Mooreland Cemetery will be private. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Paxton, Music Ministry 1 Church St., Paxton, MA 01612 or the Masonic Learning Center, 1 Ionic Ave., Worcester, MA 01608.
