Alfred A. St. George, 84 of West Boylston died Saturday (May 24) at the home of his daughter after a short illness.
His wife of 58 years, Dorothy H. (Vaughan) died in 2001. He leaves two daughters, Susan Lovell of Westport and Ellen Mulryan of West Boylston; two sisters, Joan Stenborg of Worcester, Claudia Gentile of Grafton and five grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Arthur and Josephine (Mathurin) St George.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving in the European theater attaining the rank of Master Sergeant and served eight years in the United States Air Force Reserve.
He graduated from North High School and attended various specialty-engineering courses at area colleges. Mr. St George was a superintendent for Graton Knight Co., where he worked 20 years before the company moved in the early sixties. He then worked 20 years for Jamesbury Corp as a Production Engineer retiring in 1982.
Mr. St. George was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel. He was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club and ran the golf league for 17 years. He was a member of Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204. He was an avid sports enthusiast, card player and woodworking craftsman.
A Funeral will be held Tuesday (May 27) from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston St. (www.faybrothers.com) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mount Vernon Cemetery. A Calling hour will be held Tuesday (May 27) from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
