Alice E. (Donnelly) Canavan, 98, formerly of Lucian St., died Friday Feb. 11 in Radius Healthcare Center, Millbury.
Her husband, Thomas W. Canavan, died in 1948. She leaves two sons, Thomas W. Canavan of Spencer and Francis J. Canavan of Worcester, a daughter, Lillian F. Clifford, of Shrewsbury, 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Her daughter, Eleanor A. Canavan, died in 1944. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Fearon) Donnelly and lived in Worcester most of her life. She was a Registered Nurse and a graduate of Commerce High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. She was an industrial nurse for the former American Steel and Wire Company of Worcester for many years, retiring in 1970. She also was a private duty nurse. Mrs. Canavan was a member of the St. Vincent Hospital Nursing School Alumnae Association and a long time member of St. Peter's Church and of it's Women's Guild.
The funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 19 from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The family request flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
