Alice G. Griffin

WORCESTER- Alice G. (Markey) Griffin, 74, of 21 Waterford Drive, died Monday, Dec. 23, at her son's home in Hendersonville, Tenn., after an illness.

Her husband, Joseph F. Griffin, died in 2000. She leaves a son, Joseph F. Griffin Jr. of Hendersonville; a daughter, Patricia Johnson of Bowling Green, Ky.; five grandchildren; and several nieces. A sister, Mary Sawicki, and two brothers, Joseph Markey and the Rev. Thomas Markey, all of Worcester, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Alice (Barry) Markey, and graduated from St. Peter's High School.

Mrs. Griffin worked for Melville Shoe Corp., retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 9 Hammond St. (www.faybrothers.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vianney House, 222 June St., Worcester, MA 01602.
