Alice P. Henry, 86, was called home to our lord on Friday, January 7th, 2022.
She was born August 14,1935 to Deborah A. Kelley and Walter P. Henry. A lifelong Grafton Hill resident, she graduated St. Stephens High School in 1955 and was a faithful parishioner of St. Stephen's. Volunteering at the parish thrift store, the Calvary retreat, and the Worcester senior center.
Alice had nine lives. Surviving childhood polio in an Iron Lung; beating the odds of the time. She went on to a career helping the sick, with her never-ending smile, for 40 years as a transporter at St. Vincent's hospital.
Her love of Irish music and culture extends from her devotion to the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 36. Spending many happy days at the Irish Club with her LAOH sisters. She enjoyed travelling with friends. Especially to Hampton and the Cape. Weekends were full of her favorite restaurants; The Emerald Isle, Old Timer's of Clinton, and McGuirks.
She leaves behind her dearest friend of 53 years, Miss Jackie Lee, whose love for her extends forever. A nephew, Sean T. and his wife Mary (Lund) Bowen. Their children Lcpl Thomas J. (USMC), Emily C. and, Hannah M. Bowen. Several great nieces and nephews including Kayla, Sydney, and Briana Wynter. Cousins Edward and Sally (Higgins) Dunphy, Daniel Higgins and many dear friends, and colleagues. She was preceded in life by her beloved sister Patricia A. Bowen in 1995 and her niece Kelly A. (Bowen) Wynter in 2021.
Family and friends will celebrate her life on Friday, January 14th with visiting hours from 10:00am until 11:45am at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon at St. John's Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
