SUTTON-Alyse (Hoover) Aubin, 88, passed away Tuesday, June 23, at UMass Medical Center.
Her longtime partner, Richard C. Lindstrom, died in 2025. She leaves three children and their spouses, Lisa A. Sauer and Paul Martin of Stockbridge, MA Gregg E. and Jenny N Aubin of Woodstock, CT, and Edward S. Aubin of Brooklyn, CT; three grandchildren and their spouses, Noah and Victoria Aubin of NH, Seth and Sarah Aubin of VT, and Mariah and J.P.Vincent of ME and one brand new great-grandchild Jean Louis Edward Vincent, born on 6/22/26. A sister, Jacquelyn H. Ayres predeceased her.
Alyse was born on Long Island, the daughter of Kenneth M. Hoover, a transportation engineer, and Erna I. (Karnopp) Hoover.
She graduated from Sutton High School and the Moore School of Art, Philadelphia.
Alyse spent her early years in Philadelphia before moving to Worcester in 1947. In 1951, her family settled on the “Farm” in Sutton so she could have a horse. As a young adult, she spent 34 years raising her family in Brooklyn, CT. Her varied career began with 17 years as an art teacher in the Connecticut elementary school system. Concurrently she held part time jobs at the Golden Lamb Buttery and at the Brooklyn Vet Clinic. She later worked in quality control at Frito-Lay in Killingly and, after moving to Massachusetts, became an animal care technician at the New England Primate Research Center, where she cared for monkeys.
Alyse spent her later life at the farm in Sutton, said by her to be “Heaven on Earth”. She fulfilled her ongoing dream of horses, dogs, and gardening. Here she also shared her retirement with her first love, Richard. As a Waters Farm volunteer, she spent 10 years as the driving force for apple crisp preparation as well as coordinating Sleigh Rallies. She also served the Town of Sutton for 9 years on the Conservation Commission.
A private burial will be held in Fuller Cemetery, Sutton, where she will be laid to rest with her Richard, across from the farm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MSPCA at www.mspca.org.
