WORCESTER-Amalia Diaz, 83, of Worcester passed away Friday, January 11 in UMASS Medical Center.
She leaves her husband, Wilfredo Ruiz of Worcester; two daughters, Evelyn Cristiansen and her husband, Cesar of Webster and Lizette Perez and her husband, Jose of Worcester; a brother, Jose Diaz of Puerto Rico; four grandchildren, Erika, Jose, Rochelle, Kristen and their spouses and six great-grandchildren. A son, Erzear Diaz, Jr.; two brothers, Jesus Diaz and Ruben Diaz and a sister, Blanca Diaz predeceased her. She was born in Puerto Rico, daughter of Jesus Diaz and Tomasa Gonzalez and came to the United States in 1960 and has resided in Worcester since 1968. Amalia was a professional seamstress and doll maker within the Spanish Community for many years, before retiring.
Visiting Hours are Monday, January 14 from 5 to 7pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. A Funeral Service to Celebrate her Life will be held Tuesday, January 15 at 10am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in St. John's Mausoleum.
