Andrew J. Looney 69, of 33 Garrison Ave. died Sunday (June 8) at home, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann (O'Toole) Looney; two sons, Drew P. Looney of Braintree and John T. Looney of Hampton Falls, N.H.; a daughter, Mary Beth Lambert of Shrewsbury: a brother, Michael F. Looney of Paxton: a sister, Marion T. Sarsfield of Worcester; two grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Andrew J. and Nora M. (O'Connell) Looney. He graduated from St. Stephen's High School and attended Worcester Junior College and Assumption College. He served in the Army National Guard.
He was a Captain at the Worcester County Sheriff's Department and from 1981 to 1987 he was the Assistant Deputy Superintendent, he retired in 1999.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, the American Correctional Officer's Association, National Sheriff's Association, the Retired State, County, and Municpal Employees Association, the Greendale Retired Men's Club and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council %2388. He enjoyed, golf, gardening and traveling.
A Funeral will be held Wednesday (June 11) from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston (www.faybrothers.com) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
