WORCESTER-Anna S. (Chiancola) Holmes, 92, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Christopher House of Worcester. She was born in Boston, daughter of Italian immigrants, Salvatore and Mary J. (Gagliano) Chiancola. Anna was raised in Gloucester and moved to Worcester in 1953.
Throughout the years, Anna worked for various local banks, the City of Worcester Assessors office and Jordan Marsh. She was a longtime member of St. Peter's Church and a former member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence. She was a volunteer at Saint Vincent Hospital gift shop until 2000 and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Anna will be dearly missed by her children, Marianne Olynyk and her husband Peter of Worcester, Nancy F. Pelletier and her husband Mike "Benny" of Greenbush, ME and Franklin A. Holmes and his wife Joy of Worcester, seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Anna is predeceased by her former husband, N. Franklin Holmes, two brothers, Charles A. Chiancola of Worcester and Samuel J. Chiancola of Naples, FL, and three sisters, Rose Bertolino, Sally Piscitello and Mildred Scola, all of Gloucester.
Anna's family would like to thank the staff at the Christopher House for the wonderful care they provided, especially Anna's aide, Nancy.
All Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 29th from Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. A visiting hour will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 am in the funeral home immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
