AUBURN - Arthur H. "Archie" Cronin, 74, formerly of Worcester, died peacefully on Friday, June 21st at the Rose Monahan Hospice House, Worcester, with his beloved family surrounding his bedside.
Archie was born and raised in Worcester, one of six children to Timothy "Frank" and Florence (Dubois) Cronin. He was predeceased by his four siblings, Robert, Daniel, Neil and Shirley St. Francis.
Archie will be forever loved and greatly missed by his beloved and dedicated wife of 30 years, Michelle L. (Gendron) Cronin; his sister, Jo-Anne Cronin of Shrewsbury; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Theresa Gendron of Auburn and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Gendron of Shrewsbury; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves numerous friends, many who were classmates from the Class of 1963 at South High School. Together, they spent many hours raising money to support the fundraising efforts for the Class of "63 Scholarship" at South High School.
He worked in the printing industry in Worcester, and often-times family and friends were recipients of one of his photo and printed tributes. Archie worked with the Worcester Chamber of Commerce as well. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Worcester and Auburn-Webster Lodge of Elks, and the Cherry Valley Post, American Legion. He proudly served in the Massachusetts National Guard for several years.
One of the other great loves in Archie's life was for his beloved Boston Red Sox. During spring training over many years, Archie, along with several friends found themselves in Florida checking out the team that was being built for the summer. Even as a New Englander, Archie had a special love for his favorite football team, the New York Giants.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, June 25th from 5-7 p.m. at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 26th from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester.
