AUBURN-Arthur William Fairbrother passed away peacefully July 23, 2021, with his daughter Mary Ann Kristan at his side. Arthur died of COPD and kidney disease.
The youngest of three, Arthur was born October 15, 1928 in Upton, MA to Lydia LeBretton and Arthur William (Bill) Fairbrother. He was preceded in death by his spouse Wanda Biegay and sister Ruth Walton. Arthur is survived by sister Helen Cardin; children Donna Malenfant (Jerry), Mary Ann Fairbrother Kristan (former husband Steve), Judith Fairbrother (Wendy Lane), Lisa Wilson (Garrett), and Robert Fairbrother; grandchildren Christine Malenfant (Rob Mosher), Shawn Malenfant (Maria), Monica Kristan, Michael Kristan (Katherine), Andrew Wilson (partner Trent Hendricks), Laura Mitchell (Matt); great grandsons Andrew Kristan, Charles Kristan, William Kristan, Rowan Malenfant; and great granddaughters Avery Malenfant and Jolene Mitchell.
Arthur served in the US Navy and spoke proudly of his tour of duty on the USS Tarawa. His early career included managerial positions in retail and manufacturing, and he retired from Johnson Steel and Wire as Midwest Regional Sales Director. He had a lifelong passion for jazz music and aviation, obtaining his pilot's license in his 50s. His children benefited from his encouragement of their creativity. Art loved drawing people in and engaging folks with his wit. Heart-felt thanks to long-time caregiver Mary Ann Kristan in the home she shared with Arthur.
