WORCESTER-Barbara E. (Holmes) Carlson, 82, of Worcester, died Friday, July 14, 2017 at UMass Memorial Medical Center. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Carl F. Carlson, Jr. in 2004 and her grandson, Nicholas Marlborough in 2012.

Barbara is survived by six children; Sandi Carlson of Worcester, Nancy Smith and her husband Carl of Worcester, Laurie Lebel with whom she lived, Lisa Marlborough of Worcester, Karen Lasko and her husband John of Collegeville, PA and David Carlson of Worcester. She also leaves five grandchildren; Keith Smith, Brynn Johnson, Leo Desrosiers, Ashley Messineo and John Carl Marlborough; three great grandchildren, Alex, Winnie and Rhea; and her cat Zoey. She was also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Holmes.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Earl and Ellen (Gustafson) Holmes and graduated from Commerce High School. In the early years of her marriage to Carl, Barbara was a full time wife and mother, and raised her six children. She then transitioned back to the work force. She worked at Riley Stoker, Johnson Steel and her final and most enjoyable employment was in the office at Spag's.

Barbara was a longtime member of Quinsigamond United Methodist Church. She was former president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Chester P. Tuttle Post in Auburn. She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting many places around the world. She was especially fond of the many cruises she took with her husband, Carl.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at 11:00 am at LINDQUIST LUNDIN Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street. Burial will follow at All Faith's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 17 from 5:00 until 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the Veteran's Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
