Barbara L. Carlson

WORCESTER/NORTHBRIDGE-Barbara L. (Newton) Carlson, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Blackstone Valley Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Warren A. and Lillian A. (Burton) Newton and graduated from Shrewsbury High School. Barbara enjoyed making hooked rugs, watching Tom and Jerry cartoons and old movies, her favorite being "Now Voyager". She also loved fresh flowers and has been an avid Red Sox fan for many years. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Henry W. Carlson in 2002. She is survived by three children: Donald N. Carlson of Holden, Janet H. Carlson of Northbridge and Patricia J. Stratford and her husband Thomas Stratford; a brother, Robert A. Newton and his wife Diane of Lyman, ME; four grandchildren, Derek J. Carlson and his wife Amy of Saucier, MS, Darryl J. Carlson of Dyer Brook, ME, Nicole A. Wall and her husband Matthew Freedman of N. Grafton and Jaime M. Wall and her fiancé Joshua Cohen of Homestead, FL; a great grandson, Cameron J. Wall Freedman. Barbara was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Taft and a brother, Warren Newton.

Barbara’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Blackstone Valley Health and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care they provided while she was a resident there.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, July 9^th from 9:30am-10:30am at Callahan, Fay and Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 in the funeral home immediately followed by interment at Rural Cemetery.
