Barbara L. (Bebo) Durkan, 87, of Worcester passed away Friday, December 28 at home.
Her husband of 57 years, William P. Durkan died in 2013. She leaves two children, Sharon Durkan and her companion, Tony Bonakdar and Brian Durkan and his companion, Lorna Dutcher of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Margaret Manoogian predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter and Isabella (Sharron) Bebo and graduated from, Ascension High School and Saint Vincent School of Nursing.
Barbara had a long and dedicated career as a nurse. A job in which she so loved. She retired in her mid 70s as a nurse at P.I.P. Shelter, prior to that she worked at Adcare Hospital, Worcester City Hospital and St. Vincent Hospital.
She was a longtime member of St. John's Church and a volunteer at the St. John's Soup Kitchen. She was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Brigid Division 36. Barbara enjoyed travelling with her family and spending time at the Worcester Senior Center.
A Memorial Mass for Barbara will be held at a time to be announced in the future. Barbara was an avid animal lover, In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Shelter, 139 Holden St., Worcester, 01606. Arrangements are in the care of Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street.
