WORCESTER-Barbara V. (Pope) Frost, 107, passed away Tuesday, February 11 in Oasis at Dodge Park where she lived the past few months.
Her husband, Charles E. G. Frost, fallen Worcester Firefighter, passed away in the line of duty in 1955. Their oldest daughter Carol Trudeau passed away in 2018. Barbara leaves three children, Lois Symonds and her husband, Alfred of Pittsfield and Kenneth Frost and his wife Linda of San Antonio, FL and Susan Rolls of Rochester, NH, her husband Gary Rolls passed away in 2000; a son in law, Joseph Trudeau of Marlborough; seven grandchildren, Lee Trudeau, Todd Symonds, Mark Symonds, Jenifer Donathan, Christopher Johnson, Thomas Olson, James Rolls, and April Dieringer; many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Step-daughters, Dorothy Murphy and Barbara Johanson; two siblings, Norman Pope and Violet Clark predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Gustaf and Selma (Segolson) Pope and graduated from Commerce High School and received a business certification from Becker College.
Barbara was reservation manager at Wyman Gordon Company, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed many years of friendship with Myrt, Anne and Lucy. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, active for many years with Church Council, Daughter’s of Emanuel, often working in the kitchen with her sister Violet for church events. Barbara was an avid bridge player with the same group for forty years. She was a former member of the Gung Ho Club of Wyman Gordons and the Passenger Traffic Club of Boston. She was a past volunteer at the Lutheran Home. Barbara was an avid gardener at her Ames St home and Briarwood Retirement Community where she had an active life with the “West Wing Posse” for the past 16 years. A devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan, she loved baking, keeping friends and family supplied with Swedish buns or cookies.
Barbara’s family is grateful for her long and healthy life, years enjoyed at Briarwood, for Paula, and for the compassionate care she received during her brief decline at Oasis.
A Private Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. A Public Memorial Service will be announced in the Spring in Emanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester, 01607
