Barbara Lynn Gaylord

d. May 29, 2023

Worcester

WORCESTER-Barbara Lynn Gaylord, 73, formerly of Stoughton passed away Monday, May 29 peacefully surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. She leaves her husband of 44 years, John J. Hudson; three loving sons, Michael, Andrew, and Patrick; a brother, Donald Gaylord and his wife, Molly, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Port Washington, NY daughter of Donald and Janet (Clark) Gaylord.

After graduating from Elmira College and receiving her Master’s degree in Spanish Literature from NYU, she worked and taught in Spain for a few years. After returning from Spain, Lynn as she was known to family and friends, was an Associate Dean for 37 years at Wheaton College setting up study abroad programs all over the world.

When she wasn’t caring for her students, she was painting, travelling, or at the beach. Painting trips to Ireland or summers at Craigville beach eating a lobster roll. She had a deep passion to help and support those with developmental disabilities. She travelled the world meeting new people and learning their cultures. But the thing she loved most was hanging out with family and friends. That was the most important thing in her life. She cherished her friendships over the years, enjoying countless laughs and making memories. Watching her boys play sports, the hugs, and whispering good night to “Big” Mike.

She fought courageously while constantly thinking about her loved ones. A powerful light has left this world far too soon. Her humor, talent, and spirit for life will never be forgotten.
