LEOMINSTER-Barry A. Aslanian, 59, of Leominster passed away Sunday, July 26 in UMASS Medical Center.
His life-partner of 30 years, Katherine A. (O'Donoghue) Asmar passed away March 26. He leaves his mother, Linda J. Jackson and her partner, Russell E. Swallow of Shrewsbury; his father, Richard E. Aslanian and his wife, Joan of Worcester; a son, Barry A. Aslanian, Jr. of Shrewsbury; a step-son, Joshua T. Asmar of Leominster; two brothers, Richard E. Aslanian, Jr. and his wife, Mytrang Nyguen of Alexandria, VA and Anthony J. Aslanian of Shrewsbury; a sister, Lee R. Hall of Worcester; a step-sister, Patricia Shreve and her husband, Brad of Rutland; nieces, nephews and cousins. Step-son, Christopher L. Asmar, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, graduated from Worcester Vocational High School, and invested 40 years in work that he loved as a licensed electrician.
Barry began at Honeywell, moved through several electrical companies, and spent some time working in Stroud, OK before returning home to become successfully self-employed. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix or anyone he wouldn't help. For fun, he loved to fish and camp along the Bourne Canal. He enjoyed the beaches of Cape Cod, listening to his favorite bands and nights out at the Casino. Barry was a masterful chess player and was particularly proud to have been the president and founding charter member of the Chief Jay Strongbow fan club. He was a wonderful son, brother, dad, uncle and friend and is missed already!
