Beatrice K. (Berutie Janusauskas) Courtney, 85, formerly of Duxbury Rd. died peacefully on Monday, Oct.16.
She leaves six children, Judy Griffin and her husband, Thomas, Robert Courtney, Cynthia Courtney, Kathleen Rogers, Joyce Evans, and Eileen Lahair; seven grandchildren, Tamara Fay with whom she was very close, Andrew Griffin, Sara Rogers-Smith, Kimberly Murawski, Jason Evans, Tracy Courtney and Kristen Barlar; five beautiful great grandchildren, Ella, Lily and Alana Fay, Timothy Barlar and Susannah Smith; her former husband John Ryder Courtney; two sisters, Helen Mendys and Frances Poirier and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Simon and Eva (Micalonis) Janusauskas and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade.
Bea worked at Wyman Gordons during WWII before marrying and raising her family. She later did volunteer work for Hahnemann Hospital in the Gift Shop and as a TV hostess. She also volunteered at Memorial Hospital in the short stay unit. She was a member of St. Bernard's Church and an avid reader.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Oct 19. with a Mass at 10:30AM in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
