Celebrating the Life of Bruce J. Grici
Bruce J. Grici, age 72, of Auburn, MA, passed away on October 28, 2026, following a several-month battle with prostate cancer. Bruce faced every challenge of his illness with remarkable grace. Throughout his journey his cherished wife Angela, and his pride and joy, their daughter Gianna, stood fiercely by his side through it all— serving as the ultimate sources of his strength, comfort, and peace.
Bruce was a deeply independent and self-made man who built a meaningful life centered around his own passions, hard work, and the close connections he formed. He possessed a unique spirit, living life entirely on his own terms.
A lifelong outdoorsman and avid angler, Bruce found his sanctuary in nature. He watched countless sunrises and sunsets down at Nauset Beach, surfcasting for stripers in the foam. He tracked miles up mountain trails in the wilderness stretching from the peaceful local woods and waters of New England to the Rocky Mountains of Western Montana. He had many varied interests and pursued them all with an intense passion. Bruce was a downhill skier, a competitive marksman, a custom rod builder, a skilled pool player, and always enjoyed the freedom of group rides on his Harley. Above all, he found his greatest joy in the quiet, simple pleasures of a life well-lived alongside Angela and Gianna, whether watching the birds or just being together.
Bruce was an exuberant storyteller who brought his many adventures to life for anyone lucky enough to listen. With an infectious energy, he had a rare gift for turning his life experiences into captivating, unforgettable tales. Whether recounting a close encounter with a grizzly bear, or a simple everyday moment, his enthusiasm lit up the room and left a lasting impression on everyone who shared in his laughter and story. Those who knew him will forever remember his distinct personality, unwavering resilience, and the profoundly positive impact he made on the people around him.
In addition to Angela and Gianna, Bruce leaves behind mother-in-law Rita Germain, brother-in-law Stephen Germain, Gianna’s partner Daniel Laks, many beloved members of the Martocci and Germain families, nieces, nephews and cousins, a dedicated circle of close friends, and his half-sisters, Cheryl Weibe and Dina Sweitzer of San Antonio, Texas.
The family would like to greatly acknowledge and thank Dr. Phillip Hughes and Dr. Rebecca Kowaloff of the Palliative Care Team at Umass Medical, and Bruce’s very special nurses and pca’s of the eighth-floor Oncology unit.
The world feels a little quieter without his voice and laughter here.
Rather than a traditional funeral service, to honor Bruce’s life, and his unforgettable spirit, a Celebration of Life will be held for his family, friends, and community to gather, share memories, and raise a glass to his memory.
