Carl J. Gemme

August 28, 1959 — September 26, 2020

MILLBURY-Carl J. Gemme, 61 passed away at the Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation Home in Beverly, MA on September 26, 2020 after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Christine (Oliver) Gemme, a son, Richard
Gemme of Millbury, a daughter, Victoria Gemme and her partner, Brent Ramsey of
Washington, DC. He also leaves three sisters: Cora Reardon of Pinehurst, NC, Phyllis Sharron Emmett of Punta Gorda, FL, Louise Johnson and her husband, Roger of Webster, MA and a brother, Paul Gemme and his wife, Judy, of Pinehurst, NC along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David Gemme.

Carl was born in Worcester, son of Roland and Rita (Gendron) Gemme. He graduated
in 1977 from Blackstone Valley Vocational Technical High School in Upton, MA.
Carl had a deep passion and love of cars and enjoyed collecting them, including his
'64 Buick Riviera and his '68 Buick Skylark fondly named "Max". After high school he worked for several years at Benson & Wood in Worcester before moving on to Harding Tire in 1985. There he started Harding Service on Harrison Street. For 35+ years, Carl continued his passion, and repaired customer's cars, always with a story to tell along the way. He couldn't wait to go to work every day, it truly was his "castle".

Carl loved to fish and visited Martha's Vineyard every summer where you could find him
fishing on the dock in Edgartown, sharing "fish stories" with the local fishermen. Carl's
claim to fame dates back to his teen years when he was selected to be an "extra" in
the movie JAWS. He knew every scene of the movie by heart and loved to retell the
story. He collected antique tractors, loved NASCAR and spending time with his family.
