Worcester-Carlyn L. Sweithelm, 78, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home.

Carlyn was born to the late Edna S. (Peterson) and Carl I. Lundin in Worcester.  After graduating from high school, she earned her associates degree from Worcester Junior College in Arts and Sciences.  Carlyn moved with her husband Bill Bowen to Long Island where she raised her two sons, Carl and Jeffrey, and was active in her local church choir and music programs. Later in life, Carlyn returned to Worcester to care for her mother and was also employed by the Worcester Public Schools as a teacher’s assistant for many years.  In her free time she enjoyed reading and baking.  Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Sweithelm was a dedicated Lutheran who relied on her faith to help guide her through life.  She was a lifelong member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church and gladly volunteered her time wherever and whenever needed.

Carlyn leaves many behind that love and will miss her deeply including her sons, Carl Bowen (wife Karen Bowen) of New York, NY, and Jeffrey Bowen (wife Rosy Dash) of Milford, NH; brother Craig Lundin (wife Pat Lundin) of Wilmington, NC; her grandsons Christopher and Brandon Bowen, and step-granddaughters Nicola Korzenko and Lisa Tripathy; and many cousins, nieces and grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews, both near and far.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, November 11 from 4 until 7pm at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St. Worcester.  A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 12 at 10am at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester.
