WORCESTER: Carmen M. (Lopez) Melendez, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Melendez; her parents, Serafin and Maria Lopez; her siblings, Virginia, Rafael, Salvador, Miguel, and Luis; as well as her nephews, Hector Jr., Ramon, and her beloved niece, Sonia Calderin.

Carmen is deeply cherished and lovingly remembered by her family, who filled her life with joy, laughter, and countless beautiful memories. She is survived by her son, Anthony Melendez, and his wife, Sharon, as well as her grandchildren: Connor, Cassandra, Landon, and Kaylee. She was also grateful to open her home and heart as a foster mother to Abby & Alyssia.

Carmen treasured her bond with her family. Her dear sister, Gloria Melendez, and her niece, Jennifer Melendez, along with her family, were a tremendous source of love and support, caring for Carmen with unwavering devotion, which is a testament to their special bond. She embraced her nieces and nephews, along with their families, as if they were her own children. Each one held a special place in her heart: Miguel, Sandra, Vanessa, Ixia, Renee, Eduardo, Marisela, Johanna, Jessica, Sarah, Maria, and Lulu.

A woman of exquisite style and elegance, she had a profound passion for fashion that transformed her into a gifted seamstress. She earned the beloved title of the "Cake Lady of Worcester”. She enchanted her family and community with her masterpieces, delicious cakes and decor for birthdays, quinceañeras and stunning wedding cakes that turned every celebration into a memorable occasion. Her home was a haven of warmth and joy. She relished hosting family dinners and spirited gatherings filled with laughter and love. Carmen was not just a storyteller; she was the guardian of the family’s rich history, weaving tales and memories that connected generations. As a true matriarch, her absence will leave an immense void in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the love and care provided by Leslie Valentin, Nancy Jusino, VNA Hospice nurses Rhoda and Jemi, and the support from Jessica and Lisette at Elder Services.
