Carolyn R. Gibbs

HOLDEN-Carolyn R. (Olson) Gibbs, of Holden, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 in UMass Memorial Hospital. Her husband, G. Wanye Gibbs died in 1974. Carolyn was born in Worcester, the daughter of Lawrence and Gilveig (Gustafson) Olson. She leaves a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Gibbs of Holden and a son, David W. Gibbs and his wife Susan of Sterling; three grandsons, Jonathan of Seymour, CT, Jeremy of North Grafton and Jamie of Sterling, and several cousins.
Carolyn graduated from South High School, Worcester, MA. She was a licensed registered nurse graduating from New England Deaconess Hospital in 1952. She served as surgical nurse and OR supervisor at the former Holden District Hospital for over 20 years. She also worked as an operating room nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester. She was also a floral designer with Al Bakkers Florist Shop.
Carolyn was a member of the New England Deaconess Hospital Alumni Association. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, of Holden where she sang in the church choir, was a member of the Parish Council and the church's Nursery School board. Carolyn loved sewing and crafts.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11: 00 AM in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in All Faiths Cemetery.
