Catherine Rita (O'Mara) McGrail

Catherine Rita (O’Mara) McGrail, 99, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2023, at the Christopher House.  

She was the beloved wife of the late James “Jigger” McGrail.  

She was born in Worcester on November 4, 1923, daughter of the late Catherine Riordan and Patrick O’Mara. For many years Mrs. McGrail resided in Washington DC relocating back to Worcester. In Worcester she was employed for many years at the former Warsaw Insurance Company. Aunt Rita, as she was affectionately known enjoyed spending time with family and children. She especially enjoyed playing cards and going out to eat with family and friends especially to the Sole Proprietor Restaurant.    

She leaves behind her sister, Carol Fanning of San Diego, California, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Besides her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by five siblings, Anna Barney, Joseph, John, Francis and Mary O’Mara.  

Funeral services will be held privately and are in the care of the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.
