Catherine F. Powers

Catherine F. (Griffin) Powers, 86, of Worcester passed away Fri., July 18, peacefully at the Christopher House. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Powers of Worcester and with whom she lived; sons, Francis M. Powers and his wife Sandy of West Boylston, David K. Powers and his wife Margaret of Worcester and James J. Powers and his wife Candy of Holden; a sister, Margaret O'Neil of Worcester; brothers, Donald Griffin of Oxford and Joseph Halloran of Hyannis; her grandchildren, Christopher Powers, Matthew Powers, Colleen Hagearty, Caitlin Sposato, Ashley and Patrick Powers. She was fondly known as Gigi by her great grandchildren Bryan, Daniel, Aiden, Melora and Owen Powers, Alyvia and Mackenzie Catherine Hagearty; and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Powers was predeceased by her husband Francis, former principal at Woodland Prep. School on January 15, 1967. She was born on February 18, 1922 daughter to the late Patrick and Catherine (Howe) Griffin. Fran and Catty would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 17th. Catherine was a kind woman who enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Christopher House for their wonderful care and kindness to our mother. Also, thanks to the VNA Hospice staff for their support and kindness.


A Funeral Mass in celebration of Catherine's life will be held Mon., July 21, at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln Street, Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
