Cecile (Poirier) Anderson

MILLBURY-Cecile M. (Poirier) Anderson, 98, lifelong resident of Millbury, died Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Care One of Millbury, after a long and active life.

She was born and raised in Millbury, daughter of Louis G. and Anna M. (Provencher) Poirier and graduated from Millbury High School in 1943.

Cecile worked at Norton Company for 20 years before retiring in 1989. She was a hard worker and liked to keep busy, so after her retirement, she began working in the bakery at Price Chopper and continued working there until she was 88 years old.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Wallace E. Anderson in 1998. Cecile is survived by two sons, Dale W. Anderson and his wife Cynthia of Spencer, and Dean W. Anderson of Oxford and his longtime partner Joanne Minardi, two grandchildren, Brian D. Anderson of Ashland, and Laurie L. Jakubiak of Sutton, and two great grandchildren, Maggie and Ian Jakubiak. She also leaves her brother, Arthur “Pete” Poirier of Florida, and many nephews and nieces.

Cecile was predeceased by three brothers, John Perry, Antonio Poirier, and George “T-Joe” Poirier, and four sisters, Glorianna Shepard, Jeannette Cullina, Ann Adams and Olive Forget.

Cecile and Wally loved to travel and were members of the SAC Park, where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. She belonged to the Women’s Golf League at Clearview Country Club for many years and enjoyed her weekly trips to Twin River Casino. Spending time with her family brought great joy to Cecile, especially if it involved playing cards. 

Cecile's family would like to thank the staff at Care One Millbury and Metrowest Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Cecile while there.

Interment will be held Friday, September 9^th at 11:00 AM in All Faith’s Cemetery. Family and friends will gather in Section L at the cemetery.  A Celebration of Cecile’s Life will be held at the SAC Park, 438 Lake Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 immediately following the interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cecile's memory may be made to the Activity Fund at Care One of Millbury, 312 Millbury Avenue, Millbury, MA 01527.
