Charles J. Hilyard, 75, of 78 Vernon St. died Wednesday (Feb.7) at St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his wife 52 years Yvonne R. (Smith) Hilyard, a son, James E. Hilyard of Tijeras, NM, a sister, Wilena Bartlett of Ballston Spa, NY, four grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A brother John B. Hilyard and two sisters, Annie Collins and Ethel Kriff all of Worcester predeceased him. He was born in Worcester son of Charles B. and Wilena (Robertson) Hilyard. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II serving in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a Bus Driver for The Worcester RTA for many years retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union #22.
A Funeral Service and Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Speen St. Framingham 01701. Fay Brothers Funeral Home 9 Hammond St. is directing arrangements.
