Charles F. Morse

AUBURN-Charles F. "Charlie" Morse, age 85, of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010. Born January 14th, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles E. Morse and Irene R. (Fleurant) Morse. After graduation from Worcester's South High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in the South Pacific during the Second World War. Charles retired from the Raytheon Company in 1992, after nearly four decades of employment in the field of electronics engineering. Charles was a longtime member of the men's choir at St. Peter's Church in Worcester and a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Auburn since moving to Auburn in 1954. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a fourth degree knight. Gardening, working around his yard and tinkering in his basement workshop were true passions for "Charlie" as was playing the piano for self entertainment, as well as at gatherings with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Charles leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Theresa M. (Loughlin) Morse and three sons, Edmund C. Morse and his wife, Sheila A. Doyle-Morse of Newburyport, Thomas P. Morse and his wife, Barbara H. Pope of Greenfield and Matthew C. Morse and his wife Marie D.(Aselton) Morse of Worcester.

He also leaves a sister, Beverly (Morse) Russell and her husband, Edward Russell of Holden, a brother William Morse, and his wife, Claudette (Belanger) Morse of Auburn. Charles was predeceased by a sister, Irene (Morse) Morin, wife of Paul Morin, of Van Nuys, California.

He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, all of whom he adored, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be from 5PM to 8PM on Thursday, November 11th at the Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA 01608. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Friday, November 12th at St. Joseph's Church, 194 Oxford Street North, Auburn, MA 01501. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles' name may be made to: "Matthew 25", 52 Queen Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
