WORCESTER: Charlotte A. (Melander) Swaney, 93 of Douglas Street died Thursday, February 15 in Holy Trinity Nursing Home.
Her husband Donald R. Swaney died in 2006. She leaves two daughters: Norma L’Ecuyer and her husband Robert of Leicester and Mary I. Swaney and her companion Diane Dube of Athol., two grandchildren: Thomas L’Ecuyer and Tammy L’Ecuyer, four great grandchildren and a great great grandson. She was predeceased by her son Donald H. Swaney in 1996, three brothers: Henry, James & Robert Melander, and a sister Grace Marlborough.
Charlotte was born in Worcester, daughter of Henry J. and Hannah V. (Haggerty) Melander. She was a stitcher at Robinson Thread for several years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and doing search- a-word puzzles. She spent many hours sitting in her rocking chair in the kitchen watching the neighborhood thru her window or sitting in her yard with her family enjoying the day.
A visiting hour will be held on Tuesday, February 20 from 10:00-11:00 AM in Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
