Christopher Gilley, 59, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2026, at the age of 59.
Born on January 1, 1967, in Webster, Christopher was the beloved son of Janice P. (Sterczala) and Richard L. Gilley of West Boylston. He grew up in West Boylston and graduated from West Boylston High School. He continued his education at Quinsigamond Community College, where he pursued further studies before beginning his professional career.
“Chris” joined New England Telephone, where he received extensive training and built a strong foundation in the telecommunications field. As a dedicated lineman, his work reflected his strong work ethic and quiet determination. During his career, he spent time in Indonesia, working on the island of Sumatra as a project inspector—an experience that broadened his perspective and demonstrated his willingness to take on new challenges far from home. Upon returning to the United States, he continued his work as a lineman for Phoenix Communications, where he remained committed to his trade.
Having a deep and abiding love for the outdoors, Chris found joy and peace in nature—whether camping under the stars, tenting in the woods, or hiking quiet trails. He appreciated wildlife and explored the natural world wherever he went, always observing with a calm and thoughtful presence. Nature was not just a pastime for him; it was a source of renewal and inspiration.
Known for his quiet and calm demeanor, Christopher was even-tempered and easygoing from childhood. He carried himself with steadiness and humility, appreciating life’s simple moments and the beauty found in everyday experiences. His gentle spirit and steady presence will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Chris leaves behind his beloved daughter Fiona Beaumont; his loving parents; his longtime partner Melissa Zinkevich; brother Ian Gilley; nephews Max Gilley and Nick Giakidis; aunt Patty Burke and husband Frank; and cousins Christy Chapman, Alisa Burke and Heather Mazano. He was predeceased by his brother Pedar Gilley.
Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of Chris’ life with visiting hours on Sunday, March 15th from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation in Christopher’s name be considered to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
