Christopher Chang Pyo Hong passed peacefully late Tuesday, November 21 in St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, MA.
Christopher was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who left behind an amazing legacy. Christopher was born in Korea where he met his wife of 68 years. During the Korean War he acted as an interpreter for the American soldiers who later facilitated his immigration to the United States. His deep faith in God helped him complete a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Chicago, and became an ordained Orthodox Presbyterian Minister. He retired after thirty years of teaching ancient history at the University of Minnesota Moorhead to then become the visiting New Testament professor at the HapDong Theological Seminary in Korea.
Christopher is missed by his family and friends who remember his quiet but stubborn demeanor and fierce pride as an American citizen. His long life is now blessed by God.
He is survived by his wife Soonie, son Noel, daughter Susan and her husband Tom, grandson Christopher and his wife Christin and granddaughter Rachel.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 28 at Noon in The First Congregational Church, 10 Church Street, Boylston. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. There are no calling hours.
