WORCESTER- Claire M. Weirich, 76, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023 at Rose Monahan Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Worcester on September 26, 1946, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Geraldine (Casey) Provencher. After graduating from high school, she received her diploma in Nursing from Worcester City Hospital and later a Master’s degree in Nursing from Anna Maria College. She worked at the Intensive Care Unit in Fairlawn Hospital, the Doctor’s Hospital in Worcester, Harrington Cardiac Rehab of Southbridge, was a nurse instructor at the Worcester Technical Institute and spent 22 years as an Urgent Care nurse at Fallon/Reliant of Worcester.
A devout Catholic, Claire was a parishioner at Christ the King Church in Worcester where she served as a lector, a parish council member and a pro-life chairperson. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading books, and family activities with her grandchildren.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 54 years, Ralph Weirich; her children, Christopher Weirich, Michelle Moore and her husband Eric, Benjamin Weirich and his wife Christine, and Melissa McDonald and her husband Kyle; her brother, Dr. Stephen Provencher; ten grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Claire’s life with visiting hours from 4-7pm on Tuesday, June 20th at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, June 21st at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
