HOLDEN-Clarence W. Clement, 96, of Holden formerly of Worcester passed away on Sun., June 4.
His wife of 45 years, Jennie (Lind) Clement died in 1984. He leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews. His nine year old daughter, Beverly Rae Clement, was killed during the 1953 tornado. He was also predeceased by his brother, Merton W. Clement, Jr.
He was born in Worcester the son of Dr. Merton W. and Bertha (Macauley) Clement and lived there all his life before moving to Holden in July 2003. Mr. Clement was a graduate of North Hampton Academy in New Hampshire and Nichols Junior College. He was in one of the the first classes to graduate from the college. Mr. Clement was employed by Paul Revere Insurance Company for 39 years in the Data Processing Department, retiring in 1971. In his youth, he was a member of Worcester Chapter, Order of DeMolay and was a member of the popular DeMolay Band. A very talented musician who played the drums, saxophone and other instruments, Mr. Clement had his own band, the Music Weavers, which played on Block Island, RI, Hampton Beach, NH and York Beach, ME as well as in Worcester and the Central Massachusetts area. He was also an organizer of Radio Station WORC.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 7 at 10:30 AM at All Faiths Cemetery, 7 Island Rd., Worcester. There are no calling hours.
