Worcester-Clifford E. Cox, Sr., 86, of Worcester and Florida passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 3, 2018 with his wife of 67 years, Dorothy A. "Dotty" (Love) Cox, holding his hand as he slipped away to be with the Blessed Mother Mary and Jesus. Cliff was a loving father who leaves behind six children, Kathleen Lemire, Clifford and Andrea Cox, Jr., Patricia Jancaterino, Lynn Ganz, Maureen DuVerger and Thomas and Leslie Cox, 13 grandchildren, Jason and Seanna Strniste, Dominic Jancaterino, Matthew, Megan and Bridgette Lemire, Sean Lemire (predeceased), Nathan and Joy Cox, Daniel LaFleur and Zack Ganz, Cole DuVerger, Christopher and Alex Cox. Three great grandchildren, Emma, Brian and Aubrey. Cliff was predeceased by his mother Irene P. (Leduc) Cox, his father John Cox and three brothers, John, Raymond and Robert Cox with whom he was very close.

Cliff was born and raised in Worcester and grew up on Bell Hill, spending much of his youth at the Worcester Boy's Club. He attended Worcester Junior College and then served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Cliff was employed for 33 years by AT&T and New England Telephone and Telegraph, Co. and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a union representative of the (IBEW) and a board member of the Telephone Benevolent Death Benefit Fund.

Cliff loved to golf and frequently played with his wife Dotty and a group of his lifelong friends. He was also an avid racquetball player and a fan of New England Sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and New England Patriots. Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening and grew amazing flower gardens and tomatoes. He was known by his neighbors for his meticulous green lawns. Cliff had a love of nature and wildlife and enjoyed traveling with Dotty, his children and his beloved dachshund "Auggie" to many National Parks in the US. A memorable trip in 2000 to Lourdes, France and Fatima, Portugal was very special to both Cliff and Dotty and the family members that joined them. Cliff had an intense love of classical operatic music and especially loved listening to tenors Luciano Pavarotti, Enrico Caruso and Andrea Bocelli.

This loving, wonderful husband, father and grandfather will be forever remembered and missed.

Cliff's family wishes to thank Tidewell Hospice and Ellenton Hospice House of Palmetto, FL for their respectful and compassionate care of Cliff in his final days. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Cliff's name to Tidewell/Ellenton Hospice House, 4151 37th St., East Palmetto, FL 34221.

Visiting hours will be at Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester on Tuesday, May 29th from 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Church at 23 Fales Street will be on Wednesday, May 30th at 10am. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
