WORCESTER-Constance M. (Maxwell) Hanlon, 97, of Worcester, passed away Thursday, May 16 in St. Vincent Hospital.
Constance was born in Dorchester, daughter of Francis Howard and Mary Eleanor (Kenney) Maxwell and graduated from The Mathers School in Dorchester, Girls High School in Roxbury, and attended Boston Clerical School. She was employed at Lumberman's Mutual Association as Head of Files before she met her husband and began raising their family. Connie married FBI Special Agent George E. Hanlon in 1942 and together, as their family of nine grew, they moved to different FBI offices throughout the U.S., from Miami to New York to Boston and Portsmouth, NH before settling down in Worcester. Connie always looked at each move as a new adventure. Sadly, her beloved husband of 60 years, George, passed away in 2003. Connie was a fiercely independent woman with a strong will, a good sense of humor, and a strong Catholic faith that sustained her through her life. She loved to laugh, swim in Cape Cod Bay, and enjoyed her favorite beverage, a "stinger". She was a devout parishioner of Christ the King Church and Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster. She enjoyed summering in Dennis since 1955 and spending warm winters in Pompano Beach, FL. Connie also enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and cryptograms and was an avid reader. She was blessed to live to the end of her life in her family home with much-appreciated assistance from her many loving caretakers, neighbors, friends and family.
