Cynthia Rugg Lane of Worcester, Massachusetts, formerly of Boylston, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, after a brief illness. Cynthia was born in Worcester on April 20, 1927. The daughter of the Honorable Charles B. Rugg and Marjory B. Rugg, she was raised in Boston and attended Beaver Country Day School. She was a 1949 graduate of Wellesley College. Cynthia married Warren C. ("Bud") Lane, Jr., on August 11, 1951.
Cynthia worked for Stretch N Sew in Worcester and volunteered for many causes, including Meals on Wheels and the Boylston Public Library. She was a member of the Colonial Dames and the Wellesley College Club. Cynthia was an avid cook and hosted many dinner parties. She enjoyed her weekly bridge games, yoga and the Boston Symphony Orchestra season. She and Bud loved to travel and took many walking vacations around the world. Cynthia grew up spending summers on Malden Island, Maine, and leaves that tradition to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Warren C. Lane Jr., her son Corbin B. Lane, her grandson Joshua M. Lane, her sister Deborah R. Cave and her husband John Cave, her nieces Cynthia Cave Yanchek and Elizabeth Cave, and her nephew Charlie Cave. She is predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Lane Goddard, her son Prescott N. Lane, and her grandson Nathaniel Addison Lane.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 14th from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Internment in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private.
