Dana E. Stoddard, 84, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12 in St. Vincent Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Elinor (McCullough) Stoddard, his two children, Kim Marie, of Boston and Glen Stoddard and his wife, Molly Sullivan, of Sterling, his sister, Beth McCauley of Worcester and many nieces and nephews.. He was predeceased by five sisters and a brother.
Dana was born in Washburn, Maine, son of Otis and Evelyn (Chrurchill) Stoddard. Before retiring, he was a machinist for many years at Elfskin Corporation and Parker Manufacturing. He enjoyed walking all over the city and was well known for how fast he walked and never hesitating to chat with people along the way. He excelled at playing pool, even traveling to Las Vegas to compete in a National Tournament with his bar league. Dana was also known as a great outfielder. When the ball was hit towards him, his teammates would often say, "Don’t worry, Dana's got it!" He was also known for his quick wit and ability to make people laugh. In his spare time, you could find Dana watching and cheering on the LA Lakers, the San Francisco 49ers and, his favorite, the New York Yankees.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20th at 11:AM in the First Presbyterian Church, 125 Holden Street, Worcester. Lindquist & Lundin Life Celebration Home is directing funeral arrangements.
