Shrewsbury- Daniel M. Hastings, 77, died peacefully on Monday February 10, 2020 at his home in Shrewsbury, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Haven, CT and raised in Auburn, Daniel was the oldest child born to the late Daniel J. and Dorothy M. (Petty) Hastings. Daniel attended St. John's High School on Temple Street in Worcester and Nichols College in Dudley. He met and married the love of his life, Beverly (Gonyea) during their teens in Auburn. While working for the IRS for 35 years, the pair ultimately settled in Shrewsbury to raise their family.
Dan was an avid golfer and played for many years with friends and coworkers. But Dan's favorite pastime was attending the many dance recitals, concerts, soccer, football, softball, baseball and basketball games, crew and swim meets that his grandchildren performed and played in. While his physical presence will be sorely missed, his love and support will always be felt by his family.
Daniel is survived by his three sons, Daniel, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Auburn, Sean and Matthew and his wife, Kristen all of Shrewsbury; his beloved grandchildren, Danielle and Elizabeth, both of Auburn, Zachary, Mariah, Patrick and Duncan all of Shrewsbury. In addition, he leaves behind three brothers, Terry Hastings and his wife, Martha of Auburn, Michael Hastings and his wife, Maureen of Hampton Falls, NH and John Hastings and his wife, Helene of Westborough; and his sister, Mary Ann Ulevich and her husband, Stephen of Worcester; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dan's family on Thursday, February 13th from 4-7 p.m. at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St, Worcester. His funeral will be held on Friday, February 14th from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
