Daniel J. Shea

Daniel J. Shea, 88, of Worcester died Jan. 16, at Notre Dame Long Term Care facility in Worcester.

He was predeceased by Dorothy (McNamee) Shea, his wife of 57 years. He leaves three daughters, Susan wife of Christopher Dougherty of Worcester, Dorothy Ann wife of James W. Murphy of Sherborn, and Patricia Shea of South Boston; four grandchildren, Daniel of Los Angeles, CA, Martin, Bridget and Thomas Murphy all of Sherborn. The son of Daniel and Mary (O'Leary) Shea he was born in Worcester, and lived in the city all of his life. Daniel graduated from South High School. He was a 1943 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, a long time and generous supporter of the college, and a Purple Knight. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. Daniel was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the Main Street YMCA, the Elks Club, and the Worcester Rotary. He was the founder and former owner of the Shea & Poor Insurance Agency. The family would like to thank Notre Dame for the wonderful care and attention he received.

The funeral will be held Mon., Jan. 21, from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 11 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held Mon., Jan 21., from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
