Daniela Gatej

WORCESTER-Dr. Daniela (Munteanu) Gatej, 68, a longtime and accomplished Worcester dentist, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at UMass Medical Center.

She was born in Bucharest, Romania on July 9, 1950, daughter of the late Moses and Maria (Nicula) Munteanu. She was raised and educated in Romania and emigrated to the United States in 1978. She continued dental school here and opened her private practice in 1988. Dr. Gatej loved practicing dentistry and she formed many long-lasting friendships with her patients throughout the years.

Her beloved husband of 40 years, Sorin G. Gatej predeceased her on January 9th of this year. She will be missed dearly by her two children, Dorian and Sorana Gatej.

She enjoyed painting in earlier years, and has left several pieces for her children to cherish. She also loved to cook, enjoyed watching murder mysteries and always had a special love of cats. Most of all, Dr. Daniela was a loving and devoted mother. Spending time and vacationing with her children was what meant the most to her.

Visiting hours to celebrate and honor Dr. Daniela's life will be held Thursday, October 11th from 5:00 until 7:00 pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 6:30 pm at Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. A Committal Service will be held Friday, October 12th at Noon in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street.
