WORCESTER— David K. Barton, 68, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Noreen M. (Mungovan) Barton; two sons, Derek J. Barton and his wife Katelynn of Millbury, and Jared M. Barton of Worcester; and three cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Lyla, and Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Saucier and her husband Edward of Worcester, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Lena (Rutkowski) Barton.

David was born and raised in Worcester and was a graduate of Burncoat, Worcester State College, and Assumption College, where he earned his master’s degree. He built a successful career as an operations manager in the semiconductor industry, working over the years with companies including Digital, Intel, Raytheon and most recently with Coughlin Companies in Westborough. His final role was serving as the “Big Boss” at Precision Sealcoating and Asphalt, a position he held with pride.

Above all, Dave was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest pride and joy was his family. He brought energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of fun to everything he did, especially when it came to his children. Whether coaching their teams, cheering from the sidelines, or simply being present for the everyday moments, he made sure that family time was filled with laughter, encouragement, and lasting memories. His playful spirit and sense of humor made him not only a guiding presence, but also the subtle heartbeat of many gatherings.

Dave was a passionate fan of New England sports and found great enjoyment as a member of the Worcester Surfcasting Club, often spending summers along the Canal with his “Cape Family.” He also loved traveling with Noreen, especially throughout the Caribbean, and treasured over 30 years of summer vacations at Old Orchard Beach with family and friends, traditions that became a cornerstone of family life

He faced his diagnosis of Atypical Parkinsonism with remarkable strength and determination, refusing to let it define him. Despite the many challenges and limitations the disease brought, Dave met each day with perseverance, resilience, and quiet courage, continuing to be present for those he loved, especially those Sundays in Webster with his son Jared and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Notre Dame Hospice Program for their exceptional care and compassion during David’s illness.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Notre Dame Healthcare Hospice Program, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605.
