Sutton: In loving memory of David J. Carlson, 81, whose gentle spirit departed on Thursday, May 9, surrounded by the warmth of his family following a period of illness.
He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy E. (Schonbeck) Carlson, his son Stephen D. Carlson and daughter-in-law Sylvia of Warren, and his daughter Karen L. Carlson and son-in-law Marc Romano of Sutton. Among those left to cherish his memory are also two sisters, Elizabeth Vigeant and her husband George of Florida, and Judy Shea of Oregon. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren Zachary and Cameron.
A true son of Worcester, David graced this world as the son of Bertel and Dorothea (Dion) Carlson. His patriotic duty led him to honorably serve in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. With skilled hands and steadfast dedication, he crafted a career as a sheet metal worker at the Norton Co. for over two decades then dedicated 23 years to the Sheet Metal Workers Local 63 in Springfield.
His faith found a home at Charlton City United Methodist Church where he was an esteemed member. Beyond his professional endeavors, David found solace and joy in various passions; photography allowed him to capture fleeting moments, trains fueled his imagination, archery sharpened his focus, hunting connected him with nature's rhythms, and cooking brought loved ones together around the table.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Saturday, June 15th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Charlton United Methodist Church located at 74 Stafford Street in Charlton. A heartfelt memorial service will commence at 12:00 PM within the same sanctuary. The final chapter of his earthly journey will be a private burial in All Faiths Cemetery located in Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Charlton City United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1151, Charlton City, MA 01508.
