David P. Lawrence, 83, of 36 Temple St. died Sunday, Dec.18, at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Edith A. (Richie) Lawrence; a son, David P. and his wife Gail Lawrence of Sterling; a daughter, Cynthia and her husband Bruce Cosgrove of Spencer; a brother, Richard Lawrence of Sumter, SC; four grandchildren, Thomas and Michael Cosgrove and Melinda and Amy Lawrence and nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Chester F. and Genevieve A. (Whitesell) Lawrence and attended Commerce High School and was an Army Veteran of WWII.
David worked for 25 years at the Worcester Cold Storage, previously he worked for the George F. Wright Co. He was a member of the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post %23204 and the China Burma India Assoc. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
A private funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 11:30a.m. in FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 W. Boylston St. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the UMass Memorial Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, One Biotech,365 Plantation Street, Suite 100, Worcester, MA 01605-2395
