David P. Nelson Sr. 63, of 10 Anglin Ln. died Monday (March 25) in UMASS Memorial Medical Center-Belmont St. Campus, Worcester after an illness.
His wife of 33 years Joan P. (Fairhurst) Nelson died in 1994. He leaves a son, David P. Nelson Jr. of Worcester, three daughters, Kim R. Teixeira of South Grafton, Gayle P. Bouvier of Shrewsbury, Darlyn J. Kiley of Littleton, two brothers, Roland Nelson of Sterling and Russell Nelson of Millbury, two sisters, Judith Nelson of Worcester, and Ruth Ghosn of Mossyrock, WA, 5 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester son of Roland and Ruth (Lawless) Nelson and raised by his step-parents Esley and Mary Hendrickson. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School.
He worked at Norton Company for 31 years retiring in 1994 after that he worked at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. He was a bartender at the Anchor Lounge and Wayside Café for 35 years.
He was a member of Lakeview Congregational Church.
A Funeral will be held Thursday (March 28) at 11 a.m. in Fay Brothers Funeral Home 9 Hammond St. Worcester(www.faybrothers.com). Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery. Calling Hours are Wednesday (March 27) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
