Paxton-Denis Mark Crowley died peacefully at his home in Paxton on June 9th after a long illness. On July 28, 2008 he would have been 86 years old. He was a retired executive of Polar Corporation in Worcester, MA. He was born in Worcester, the son of Edward D. and Kathleen L. (Donnelly) Crowley. He graduated from Worcester Academy in 1940. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania in 1947.
Mr. Crowley is survived by two daughters, Wendy and her husband Phillip Canale of Braddock, NJ and Anne Elizabeth Crowley of Cranberry Township, PA; three sisters, Mary V.C. Callahan, Kathleen McKellar and Carol Hanlon of Portland, Oregon; two granddaughters, Kim Lipstas of Hammonton, NJ and Kristy Canale of Braddock, NJ; a grandson, Greg Canale of Hammonton, NJ; four great grandchildren, Kylie, Cole, Carlena and Lucas as well as 28 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph, Edward and James.
Mr. Crowley began part-time work at Polar Corporation as a teenager. He was instrumental in the move from Polar's Corporation original location on Summer St. to its larger location on Walcott St. He belonged to local organizations such as the Regional Environmental Council and YMCA. He was Vice-President of the Citizens Plan E Association. Also in 1981 he served as President of the Carbonated Beverage Institute. He enjoyed outdoor sports, family genealogy and was an avid Democrat.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, June 12 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM at The Cathedral of St. Paul, 38 High St., Worcester. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
