Donald L. Alger passed away Tuesday November 25, 2014.

Don is predeceased by his wife Yoshiko of 60 years of Sendai Japan, his brother Bryce and his sister Marilyn. He was born on a farm in Manton MI the youngest son of Roy and Erma Alger. He is survived by his two sons; James, and fianc%C3%A9e Mary Lou of Ohio, and David, his wife Valerie and their children Jonathan and Jaclyn of Hubbardston MA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea, Don returned to his home state of Michigan to attend Michigan State and later the University of Michigan obtaining a Master's in Nuclear Engineering. He worked as a NASA engineer for over 30 years at the Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, OH. Don loved being an engineer and is the holder of several U.S. Patents for various works in metal alloys, coatings, and designs.

Devoted to his family, he was the Dad who never missed a school concert or sporting event, stayed up late to help with homework or school projects, and always put the needs of his family above his own. In retirement he maintained an active work life, starting his own company and setting up his own lab. He also helped with gardening, learned country line dancing, and enjoyed travels with Yoshiko to Ohio Amish country, Arizona, and San Francisco. He enjoyed playing with his grandkids and always encouraged them to dream big and believe in their own ability. He will always be an inspiration to those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services with Military honors will be held in Seville OH. Arrangemennts in the care of CALLAHAN~FAY AND CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.
