WEST BOYLSTON
Donald W. Bonci, Sr. 79, died surrounded by his loving family on Wed., Feb. 13, in UMASS Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with Multiple Myeloma. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Mary P. (Moran) Bonci; a son, Donald W. Bonci, Jr. and his wife Judith of Holden; two daughters, Patricia L. Fanning and her husband Timothy of West Boylston and Marcia A. Amaral and her husband Edward Amaral, MD of Shrewsbury;his grandchildren, Matthew Bianchini and his wife Kara of West Boylston, Amy and her husband Zachary Grizzle of Louisville, KY, Elizabeth Fanning of Attleboro, Tara Fanning and her fianc%C3%A9 Clinton Cooper of San Diego, CA, Caitlin Fanning of West Boylston, Anthony and Jenna Bonci of Holden; his great grandchildren, Katie and Madison Bianchini, Collin Grizzle and Jackson Cooper; a brother, Richard A. Bonci and his wife Jean of South Berwick, ME; a sister, Martha A. Sundquist and her husband Charles of Boise, ID. He was born in West Boylston, son of Fernando and Eva (Richard) Bonci and lived here his entire life and graduated from Major Edwards High School.
Don was a partner in the former Malden Hill Dairy, owner of the former Bonci & DeSanti Package Store, a Real Estate Agent with Robert Love Co. and the Tree Warden for the Town of West Boylston. He was an avid outdoorsman and golfer and member of Wachuestt Country Club and loved golfing with his friends. He was a member of the Bonanza Assoc. and private licensed pilot, a ham radio operator with the call letters, K1-RKP, a little league coach, a lifelong member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, a member of the Naval Reserves, the Wachusett Rotary Club and a former Cemetery Commissioner for the Town of West Boylston. Don was a hard working self made man with strength of character and great wisdom. He was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and great grandfather who will be deeply missed.
The funeral will be held Mon., Feb. 18, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 W. Boylston St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Sun., Feb. 17, from 3 to 6 PM at the funeral home.
